As a professional writer and editor with 25 years of experience in high-tech and environmental sectors, I bring a unique perspective to nature writing. My academic background—an MS in Environmental Education and BAs in English Writing and Pyschology with a focus on Geropsychology—informs my approach to teaching and storytelling about the natural world.
My expertise was further honed during a two-year journey across North America, where I studied diverse pedagogies in settings ranging from urban classrooms in Chihuahua Mexico to remote Indigenous communities in Newfoundland Canada. This experience has deeply influenced my teaching methods and curriculum development.
I’ve applied this knowledge in various roles, including lobbying for water rights on behalf of Shoshone and farmers in Utah, developing educational resources at the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, and teaching nature-based courses with Washington Outdoor Women and Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park. My goal is to empower others to explore and articulate their relationship with the natural environment through writing.
